Families Helping Families is an opportunity for you and your family, or organization / group, to help others this Thanksgiving. As we have for the past 40+ years, SPX will be providing Thanksgiving Baskets and gift cards to families who are in need of food assistance.
This outreach program partners with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Largo, Assumption Parish in S.E. Washington, and the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry.

purchase groceries
- HEREPurchase the attached list and pack all items together in a single reusable grocery bag.
- Make a check for $15 out to St. Pius X Church, place it in an envelope, and staple it to the outside of the reusable grocery bag.
- Drop off your bag of groceries in the Church Entranceway on the weekends of November 1 / 2, November 8 / 9, and November 15/ 16 when you come to Mass

Monetary donation
- Cash and checks (made out to St. Pius X Church) should be placed in an envelope marked ‘Families Helping Families.’ These can be turned in at the Info Desk, placed in the offertory baskets or mailed to St. Pius X Rectory Office (3300 Moreland Place, Bowie, MD 20715)
- Please make sure your donations arrive by Sunday, Nov. 16th

DELIVERY
- Using your own vehicle, you’ll transport turkeys and / or Thanksgiving Baskets.
- You can volunteer to assist with delivery for one or both of the following times:
- Thursday, November 20th at 4:00 pm
- Saturday, November 22nd at 9:00 am
- We ask that no small children be with you for deliveries
- Strong Adult or High School Volunteers - must be able to lift and carry full bags of canned groceries. (service hours can be given)
- To volunteer, please contact Sally Hein or Liz Brown directly by November 16th

packing & shopping
- Pack the food bags/baskets on Nov 17/18 (time TBD) (adults only please)
- Shop for any groceries needed on Nov 18/19 (time TBD) (adults only please)
